Increased incidences of obesity, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases are mostly related to high intake of fat, salt and sugar which results in high BMI. It is therefore necessary to regulate these within defined limits. FSSAI mandates that packaged foods should be regulated for high fat, salt and sugar (HFSS) and bear mandatory disclosure about HFSS and calories on the packaging.
