Glucose Clamp Studies

In glucose clamp studies, an infusion of glucose or insulin is varied in a way that blood glucose concentration is maintained or clamped at a specific level. This quantifies a person’s sensitivity to insulin and helps in analysing how glucose is metabolized. Glucose clamping is a gold standard and widely used technique in researching diabetes treatment and effectively measures the pharmacodynamics effects of a hypoglycaemic agent.

The clinical research studies that use this technique are usually complex in nature. At VIMTA, we have performed several types of clamp trials for diabetes therapy.
